GEODESIUM
GEODESIUM, the eponymous first album, consists of electronic music recorded at Fiske Planetarium from 1975 to 1977. At the request of many pleased planetarium patrons who had inquired about obtaining the music they had heard in the shows, Mark put together an album of the most popular selections. He used only two instruments on the album: the EMS Synthi AKS (a suitcase-sized synthesizer with a painted-on capacitance-sensing strip for keys) and a Mellotron, so the music is quite analog and 70s-sounding.
The original vinyl LP and its first reprint were sold out by 1980. But in 1999, we remastered it, and for those GEODESIUM fans desiring a complete collection, we will record a custom compact disc. Plus, there's now a bonus track not included on the original album, a 9-1/2 minute "orchestration" of a Mozart work, 12 Variations on the theme 'Ah, vous dirai-je, Maman' -- the tune we know today as "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star." Only a couple dozen copies were distributed to planetaria as entrance music, so it's a rarity!
This CD-R is a conventional Red Book audio CD, which should play fine in most CD players. It is not a data CD containing .WAV or .MP3 files.

1. The Answer (2:28) free form orchestral chords blend with a continuous echoing sequence; a bright, floating, rhythmless environment.
2. Little Dipper (2:27) an up-tempo fun tune with a walking bass and a rock feel.
3. Stardeath (2:52) mysterious, ethereal Mellotron strings and chorus; almost atonal at times.
4. Toccata and Fugue in D Minor (10:04) J. S. Bach, arranged for and performed on a synthesizer without keys.
5. Free Fall (5:20) whirling through space, with a rock flavor.
6. Martian March (3:38) a stately processional with heraldic trumpeting.
7. Arabian Dance, from The Nutcracker (4:39) cosmic Tchaikovsky.
8. Ptolemy's Ptune (1:39) a comedic, carousel-like waltz commemorating the looping, epicyclic solar system.
9. Cosmic Calypso (4:31) a bouncy dance with tape-echo counterpoint and Latin percussion.
CD Bonus Track:
10. 12 Variations on the theme 'Ah, vous dirai-je, Maman' (9:29) A playful rendition of "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star".
